Warriors2Racers Program Launch

Charity offers a way for veterans to get started in racing even if they have no experience

Avon, Indiana, February 27, 2023 – The Resilience Racing Foundation (RRF) announced this month that they have brought on-board a new team member to focus on an expanded program for the organization. Ed McLean, a current driver in the American Endurance Racing (AER) series and certified instructor, joins the RRF team and brings with him a new name and new energy to driver and crew development.   Today, we are proud to announce the launch of Warriors2Racers, a program to help veterans gain necessary racing industry experience and guide them to paths in motorsports even beyond RRF.

Ed is a US Air Force Veteran with over 35 years’ experience as a race driver and is a Motorsport Safety Foundation certified High Performance Driving Instructor. He has raced everything from small sports cars to formula cars, and competed in various racing formats, from small time trials to 8-hour long endurance races.

In 2021, Ed began working with veteran organizations to get veterans involved as crew members on endurance racing teams. His efforts were soon noticed by other teams and in November of 2022, he was approached to form an all-veteran AER team. After canvassing various venues for veteran drivers and crew, it became apparent that many lacked the experience and expertise to be brought straight into the program. Ed approached many veteran motorsport charities and teams and one thing was clearly needed – a way to get veterans fully trained and qualified to race and crew for competition racing.

Resilience Racing Foundation answered Ed’s call for help and RRF board members agreed to bring Ed’s efforts into the RRF portfolio and provide support.  “We are thrilled to join forces with Ed which will not only enhance the true grassroots development of aspiring racers, but also open doors into advanced racing opportunities of the AER community,” said Kirk Dooley, Executive Director, RRF.
